Animals & Insects

Hi! I'm Alex. I've created this blog because I love entomology. I use this blog as a nature diary, posting every find. There aren't just insects - there are all sorts of animals. So It's not strictly for Insects. If you have an interest in bugs, then you are more then welcome to contact me through the comments or Facebook page: Alex Sidney. And if you've got any interesting pictures you'd like me to see, please contact me. I may post them online here, with your permission. Enjoy! Alex Sidney

Cockchafer Beetle

I caught this Cockchafer Beetle on a hot summer's night in 2012. Also known as the May Bug, this beetle is nocturnal, as it crashed into me, and fell down my jacket!

A small dedication

I think I owe a dedication to the author of 'Beetle Boy': M.G. Leonard.

Thirteen-year-old Darkus Cuttle's search for his kidnapped father leads him to discover a mountain of extraordinary beetle, and pits him against the mad-scientist of the fashion world, Lucretia Cutter, an haute couture villainess with an alarming interest in insects. A darkly hilarious adventure full of exotic beetles, daring schemes, and true friendship.
This book helped inspire me to turn to the direction of Coleoptera, which is the group of Beetles. Of course, I still love other invertebrates, but now I am thinking of a possible career in Coleoptera when I'm older, and I would highly recommend reading her entertaining book, Beetle Boy.

So, thanks so much for inspiring me about Beetles, M.G. Leonard!
